8th escar Embedded Security in Cars conference
16.11.2010 - 17.11.2010 Bremen, Germany http://www.escar.info |
Important dates: Submission Deadline: 27.06.2010 Notification of acceptance: 20.08.2010 |
Information technology is the driving force behind innovations in the automotive industry, with perhaps 90% of all innovations in cars based on electronics and software. Up to 80 embedded processors can be found in a high-end car, and electronics & software will soon also be the major single cost factor in car manufacturing. The situation is similar for commercial vehicles such as trucks.
One crucial aspect of future IT applications in vehicles is the security of these systems. Whereas software safety is a relatively well established (if not necessarily well understood) field, the protection of automotive IT systems against manipulation has only very recently started to emerge. At the same time, security will be an enabling technology for many – perhaps for most – future automotive IT applications. IT security will both increase reliability & safety, and enable new business models. escar, now in its 8th year, has established itself as the premier forum for information, discussion and exchange of ideas in this innovative field. For the first time, there will be a tutorial covering the main topics of escar on the first day. As in previous years, the program will include invited talks and submitted papers in the following areas:
Theoretical/scientific articles, case studies and real-world experiences are welcome. For further information and a mailing list subscription, please visit www.escar.info Prospective authors should contact one of the co-chairs (cpaar@crypto.ruhr-uni-bochum.de or jpelzl@escrypt.com) in case they have a doubt about the appropriateness of their submission for the conference.
Submission
Two types of submissions are possible:
* Full papers of up to 10 pages. This can be, for example, new research results, case studies, or state-of-the-art reports. The value for the escar community should be clearly demonstrated.
* Extended Abstracts of 2-3 pages. This category is particularly geared towards contributions from industry, e.g., describing new developments in industrial research or applications
For both types, the document must be in English, the font size should be at least 10pt, and the type of submission (Full Paper vs. Extended Abstract) must be clearly indicated on the title page. All submissions will be peer-reviewed; Submissions should be sent as PDF (or postscript) documents to escar-submission-2010@is-its.org
Note: submissions do not need to be anonymized.
