Simulating Vehicular Ad-Hoc Networks is a challenging task, as it involves network simulation, traffic simulation in large, heterogenous scenarios. A number of network simulators is currently available, with ns-2 beeing the most prominent. However, ns-2 also brings code complexity and performance issues. Thus, alternatives are welcome, where JiST/SWANS is one of them, which has shown very good performance, implements an interesting concept and is based entirely on Java.

Besides the networking, applications, mobility models and physical layer are key parts in simulating VANETs. On these pages, we intend to collect resources on VANET simulations, particularly regarding JiST/SWANS.
